About Geoff @GeoffRBennett

Geoff Bennett serves as co-anchor of PBS News Hour. He also serves as an NBC News and MSNBC political contributor.

An award-winning political correspondent, he has reported from the White House under three presidents, covered five presidential elections, and his exclusive interviews with many of Washington, D.C.’s most influential figures have grabbed national headlines.

At News Hour, Bennett has interviewed some of the biggest names in politics and culture -- including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, billionaire businessman Mark Cuban, Emmy-Award winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, acclaimed children’s author Jeff Kinney, and legendary singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt.

Bennett was part of the News Hour team honored with a Peabody Award in 2024 for its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.

Bennett joined PBS News Hour from NBC News, where he was a White House correspondent and substitute anchor for MSNBC.

At NBC, he covered the Trump and Biden administrations and earned recognition for his in-depth and exclusive reporting on the delivery delays at the U.S. Postal Service. Bennett also provided extensive and defining coverage of the first Trump impeachment inquiry and the migrant family separation policy. He is part of the NBC team that in 2022 won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence.

In his prior experience, he worked for NPR, beginning as an editor for Weekend Edition and later as a reporter covering Congress and the White House.

Bennett has appeared as a political analyst on ABC News and CBS News and has also hosted C-SPAN’s Washington Journal public affairs program. He began his journalism career at ABC News’ World News Tonight after graduating from Morehouse College.

He and his wife live in the Washington, D.C. area with their son.
